After a harrowing on-field incident, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell is expressing relief and gratitude following his recovery. The player announced on Wednesday that he has regained full movement in his lower body and is optimistic about his progress since being hospitalized just three days prior.
In his first public statement since being carted off during the Lions’ game against the Minnesota Vikings, Campbell reassured fans that he is on the mend and thanked everyone for their support during this challenging time.
“My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express,” he stated, emphasizing how encouraged he feels about his recovery. “I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body.”
The injury occurred during a routine tackle in the fourth quarter, where Campbell was involved in bringing down Vikings’ tight end T.J. Hockenson. However, Campbell collapsed on the field, prompting immediate medical intervention. He was quickly transported to Henry Ford Hospital, where he received treatment.
Despite the situation, Campbell’s spirits remain high. “I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic,” he shared, acknowledging the support from his team and the Lions organization. “This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything.” He expressed a desire to embody the toughness he associates with the city of Detroit, stating, “One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.”
