Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, has publicly responded to allegations of threatening behavior towards his famous aunt’s legacy, asserting that the accusations stem from a misunderstood payment dispute rather than any intent to harm. In a court affidavit filed in Nashville, Seaver refuted claims made against him by She’s Alive, the organization responsible for overseeing Parton’s professional assets.
She’s Alive had sought a temporary restraining order against Seaver, alleging he sent menacing messages, including references to being an “international arms dealer.” However, Seaver contended that these messages were misinterpreted, arising from frustrations regarding unpaid invoices amounting to approximately $251,000 owed to his security firm for services provided prior to Parton’s passing on August 25, 2026.
Seaver explained that the contentious messages were intended for Danny Nozell, Parton’s longtime manager, and were part of private discussions between friends about the difficulties he faced following the media frenzy surrounding Parton’s death. He claimed that his remarks, which included plans to criticize Parton’s brand, were not threats but rather expressions of frustration over financial issues.
In his affidavit, Seaver stated, “I have never threatened physical harm to Mr. Nozell, to any SAL employee, contractor, attorney, advisor, or business partner, or to anyone else associated with SAL.” He maintained that the language he used was intended to convey business maneuvers rather than any physical threat.
Seaver also addressed the issue of alleged avoidance of legal service, denying that he used barbed wire or caution tape at his home to elude process servers. He clarified that the barbed wire was placed by his son to deter unwanted visitors amid increasing media attention.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Seaver has received the overdue payment from She’s Alive but has been replaced as their security provider. He expressed concerns about the overly broad nature of the restraining order, which restricts him from contacting anyone connected to She’s Alive, potentially affecting his interactions with family members involved in Parton’s estate.
Seaver concluded, “A restriction extending to everyone who ‘has or may have’ a business relationship with SAL could reach ordinary communications with close family members.”
