In a shocking turn of events, Dale Smith Jr., 55, has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge connected to the 2011 disappearance of his ex-fiancée, Michelle Parker. Parker, a mother of three, was last seen on November 17, 2011, after appearing on “The People’s Court” with Smith, where they had a heated dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring.

Orlando police have stated that while Parker’s body has not been located, substantial evidence points to Smith as responsible for her murder. This evidence has reportedly emerged from extensive investigative work and advancements in digital forensics that allowed detectives to re-examine the case.

Smith was taken into custody at his business on Wednesday. During the proceedings, police shared video footage of him being escorted from a building in handcuffs. His arrest comes nearly 15 years after Parker vanished, leading to a lengthy investigation that initially considered Smith a prime suspect.

According to police, Smith’s conflicting statements over the years were crucial in re-evaluating the evidence, and new digital technology has helped clarify many details that were previously ambiguous. Detective Phillip McMican emphasized that the new forensic methods provided insights into the case that were not possible back in 2011.

Parker’s mother, Yvonne Stewart, expressed relief and joy at the arrest, stating, “It’s like the happiest day because she deserves this.” She has held onto hope for years that justice would eventually prevail for her daughter, who left behind three young children.

As the investigation continues, State Attorney Monique H. Worrell noted that the charges against Smith may escalate to first-degree murder if sufficient evidence is found. The community remains in shock as they await further developments in this tragic case.
