In a recent incident aboard a Delta flight, actress Selma Blair was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault. Following her arrest, her representative spoke out, asserting that Blair “did not intend to harm anyone.” This statement comes amidst accusations that the “Cruel Intentions” star kicked a Port Authority police officer and a nurse while being removed from the plane.
The altercation took place late Sunday night, and court documents reveal Blair was taken to a hospital after the flight. Her attorney explained that she had missed critical medication for her multiple sclerosis, which contributed to her confusion during the incident. “There was an incident in which Ms. Blair actually fell and hit her head,” her attorney stated in court, adding that the altitude may have exacerbated her condition.
Blair’s representative emphasized that the narrative surrounding the incident has been largely shaped by police statements and outdated headlines. They reiterated that Blair was experiencing a medical emergency during the flight and stressed the need to reassess the situation with compassion and understanding.
The actress, who has openly discussed her battle with multiple sclerosis, also has a service dog that she travels with, which was reportedly taken from her during the incident. “For the same reason, she travels with a service dog who doesn’t leave her side,” her representative mentioned, highlighting the challenges Blair faces daily due to her condition.
As the case unfolds, her legal team is calling for a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances before any judgment is made, both in court and in public discourse. The incident has raised discussions around mental health and the importance of recognizing underlying medical issues in such situations.
