In a shocking development for the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Jalen Hurts has been diagnosed with blood clots in both his lungs and leg. This serious condition, identified as deep vein thrombosis in his calf and bilateral pulmonary emboli, is expected to keep the Super Bowl MVP sidelined for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Hurts last took the field on October 11 during a narrow loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Subsequently, he was unable to play in the Eagles’ recent defeat against the Carolina Panthers. The team announced that Hurts is currently receiving treatment with blood thinners, and he will not be permitted to engage in any contact sports, including football, during this recovery period.
The organization has stated that while Hurts is currently stable and does not face significant functional limitations, they have not provided a specific timeline for his return. However, expectations for the 2026 season are looking increasingly bleak for the star quarterback.
“We anticipate that he will have no long-term effect,” the Eagles emphasized in their statement regarding his health. This news follows Hurts’ remarkable performance in Super Bowl 59, where he led the Eagles to victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
