An incredible story of survival has emerged from Arizona, where a mother, Alexus Fiordilino, is grappling with the emotional aftermath of a shocking incident involving her 18-month-old son, Vincent. After being pronounced dead for over five hours, Vincent was discovered alive in the hospital morgue, a twist that has left his family in disbelief.

Fiordilino recounted the heartbreaking moment she said her final goodbyes to her son, believing he was gone. Despite feeling that Vincent was still breathing, the emergency room physician, Dr. Aryan Toosi, insisted that the child had succumbed to his injuries after a nearly drowning incident in the family’s pool on Super Bowl Sunday.

In a recent interview, Fiordilino expressed her initial hope that she heard her son breathing during their goodbye. “As a mom, you don’t want to hear that,” she recalled, adding that she trusted the doctor’s judgment, thinking any further attempts to revive him would cause unnecessary suffering.

However, just as the family was processing their grief, police informed them that Vincent had been found alive when a medical examiner’s employee came to collect his body. The news brought overwhelming relief and joy, transforming a moment of despair into a miraculous second chance.

In the days following this incident, investigations unfolded. While the Gilbert Police Department floated the idea of filing child abuse charges against the parents for losing sight of Vincent during a gathering, the Maricopa County Attorney ultimately decided against pressing charges, acknowledging the family’s distress.

Fiordilino’s attorney, John Brewer, is now preparing to file a formal complaint against Dr. Toosi and the hospital, claiming that the decision to declare Vincent dead was based on incomplete medical information. According to Brewer, critical test results cited by the doctor were not available until after the child was declared deceased, raising serious ethical concerns about the medical response.

As the family continues to navigate the challenges posed by Vincent’s condition, which has left him with severe brain injuries, Fiordilino remains hopeful for her son’s recovery. “He’s getting better,” she said, although she acknowledged the many hurdles ahead.

The chilling incident has sparked discussions about medical protocols and the responsibilities of healthcare professionals in life-and-death situations, highlighting the profound emotional impact on families when such grave errors occur.
