The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have initiated legal proceedings against My Chemical Romance, stemming from a recent performance where the band featured dancers clad in costumes strikingly similar to the cheerleaders’ renowned blue and white uniforms. This event took place during the band’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl, prompting Pro Silver Star, the entity behind the cheerleader brand, to file for a temporary restraining order in Dallas County court.

According to court documents, the costumes worn by the dancers were described as nearly identical to those traditionally associated with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The performance included staged scenes where the dancers appeared to engage in combat, adding to the controversy surrounding the depiction.

My Chemical Romance, celebrated for their hits from the 2000s such as “Teenagers” and “Welcome to the Black Parade,” has not publicly responded to the legal action as of yet. The cheerleaders expressed that they do not wish to hinder MCR’s creative expression but simply want to prevent the use of their iconic uniforms in such contexts. “The universe of alternative costume designs is effectively unlimited,” the filing stated, advocating for creative freedom while protecting their trademark.

Audience reactions indicated confusion, with many on social media mistaking the performers for the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, prompting the legal action. As the band continues their tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of “The Black Parade,” they are scheduled to return to the Hollywood Bowl for additional performances.
