In a stunning display of defensive prowess, the Seattle Seahawks handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season with a decisive 20-3 victory on Sunday night. The Seahawks’ defense was relentless, forcing Patrick Mahomes into one of the worst performances of his career, limiting him to just 165 passing yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.
Ken Walker III, who previously earned Super Bowl MVP honors with Seattle, faced a tough reunion against his former team, managing only 36 rushing yards on 14 carries. This marked a sharp decline for Walker, who had been leading the NFL in rushing yards prior to this game.
Seattle’s defensive strategy proved effective, as they restricted the Chiefs to their lowest total yards, first downs, and red-zone attempts in any of Mahomes’ starts. Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald expressed pride in his team’s resilience, stating, “To stand steadfast in some adversity, that’s what we do. We find solutions.”
The win is particularly significant for the Seahawks, who had been struggling after losing two consecutive games. This victory brings them closer to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West standings.
On the other hand, Kansas City’s offense will need to regroup quickly, as they prepare to face another formidable defense in the Denver Broncos next week. Coach Andy Reid acknowledged the performance, saying, “We’ll go back to the drawing board.” Meanwhile, the Seahawks will look to extend their momentum as they host the Chicago Bears, who have been averaging impressive points this season.
