In a disturbing incident that occurred on a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City on Sunday, actress Selma Blair was taken into custody following allegations of physical abuse. Reports indicate that two flight attendants sustained injuries, necessitating medical attention for one of them after the aircraft landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The New York Port Authority confirmed Blair’s involvement as the suspect in this alarming situation, which has prompted an investigation by the FBI. The agency is responsible for addressing all incidents aboard commercial flights and has stated it is actively looking into the matter following a report of a “potential assault.” The Federal Aviation Administration also announced it would conduct its own investigation regarding the passenger disturbance.
A representative for the 54-year-old actress disclosed that she was hospitalized for evaluation. They asserted, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct,” adding that she is currently in stable condition following immediate medical care upon landing.
While the specifics of the incident remain unclear, it is known that Blair has a history of health challenges, having previously disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. This autoimmune disorder impacts the central nervous system, raising questions about how such health issues may intersect with her recent behavior.
Delta Airlines, in response to the incident, emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for passengers and crew, reiterating its “zero tolerance” policy for any unlawful behavior. This incident marks a troubling repeat for Blair, who had a notable outburst during a flight back in 2016, which involved her being removed from the aircraft on a stretcher after a reported mix of alcohol and medication.
As investigations by both the FBI and FAA unfold, the public awaits further clarification on the events that transpired on the flight and Blair’s condition moving forward.
