A tragic incident occurred during a college football game in San Antonio, Texas, when a service member fell while performing a pregame aerial demonstration. The demonstration involved rappelling from the rafters of the Alamodome, where the University of Texas at San Antonio faced off against the Naval Academy.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the service member descending on a rope before the fall took place. Video footage captured from the stands shows the dramatic moment, with spectators looking on in shock as the service member hit the field. Medical personnel quickly rushed to the scene, and the individual was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The fallen service member was part of the U.S. Air Force’s 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2. This heartbreaking event unfolded as the University of Texas at San Antonio had planned various activities to honor service members and veterans during the game.

In a statement, the university expressed its sorrow: “We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the start of tonight’s football game. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the soldier who was affected, his family and his military colleagues.”

As of now, the incident is under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge. The Alamodome is owned by the city of San Antonio, which has not yet commented on the tragedy. An individual was seen sprinting from the sidelines to assist the fallen service member, who lay motionless at the 50-yard line before being transported away in a golf cart, leaving fans horrified.
