President Donald Trump has signaled that he may dismiss Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has been serving as the U.S. ambassador to Greece since 2025. This announcement comes in the wake of serious allegations surrounding her conduct, including claims made by a Trump donor, Eric Deters, who accused her of attempting to secure a $100,000 payment to settle personal credit card debt prior to her Senate confirmation hearing.
When asked about the possibility of terminating Guilfoyle’s position, Trump responded, “We’re looking at it,” as reported by The Associated Press. The President expressed dissatisfaction with Guilfoyle’s actions, stating, “We’re not happy.” This shift in tone marks a change from his previous comments, where he described her as “always very nice” after first being informed about her alleged misconduct.
Guilfoyle, who previously worked as a prominent campaign surrogate for Trump and was engaged to his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is currently under investigation by the State Department’s Office of the Inspector General. The scrutiny follows allegations that she boasted about her connections to wealthy Greek businessmen who purportedly funded her lavish travels.
Last week, Deters detailed in an interview that Guilfoyle’s request for financial assistance was a “quid pro quo,” indicating she was willing to provide access to influential figures within the Trump administration in exchange for the payment. Guilfoyle’s legal team has yet to provide a comment on these allegations, although they have previously claimed that Deters owed her money for speaking engagements, a claim he has denied.
The ongoing investigation into Guilfoyle’s actions raises significant questions about her suitability for diplomatic service and may lead to further repercussions within the Trump administration as they navigate these serious allegations.
