The ongoing legal battle involving Dolly Parton’s estate has taken a surprising turn. On Thursday, the management company for the iconic singer’s estate, She’s Alive LLC, filed a motion to drop its lawsuit against her nephew, Bryan Seaver. This move follows allegations made by the estate that Seaver had threatened to harm Parton’s brand and legacy.

The lawsuit was initially filed in September, with She’s Alive seeking both a restraining order and damages from Seaver, who is also the owner of the security firm that previously provided services to Parton. Now, the estate has requested that the claims against Seaver be dismissed without prejudice, indicating the possibility of refiling in the future, although it remains unclear whether they intend to pursue that path.

In the past weeks, the situation escalated, with She’s Alive alleging that Seaver had taken extreme measures, including using barbed wire and caution tape to secure his property, to evade legal service. In a response filed with the court, Seaver denied the accusations, claiming that the messages were misinterpreted and stemmed from a specific business dispute regarding payments owed to his security company.

Seaver asserts that his firm, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, is owed about $251,000 for security services provided to Parton’s hotel and museum in Nashville. As the dispute unfolds, both parties have yet to comment further on the latest developments. This legal saga continues to highlight the complexities surrounding the management of Parton’s substantial legacy following her passing from cancer at the age of 80 in August.
