The Minnesota Vikings, who once held the title of the NFL’s last undefeated team in the 2026 season, faced a tough defeat against the Detroit Lions with a score of 19-15 on Sunday. This loss marked the end of their unbeaten record, dropping their season record to 6-1.

Prior to this game, the Vikings had boasted an impressive 11-game regular-season winning streak, which dated back to the previous season. A victory against Detroit would have tied the franchise’s all-time win streak from 1969.

Throughout the match, the Vikings struggled offensively, entering the final quarter trailing 12-7. A glimmer of hope emerged when quarterback Kyler Murray connected with T.J. Hockenson for an eight-yard touchdown, giving Minnesota a brief 15-12 lead after a successful two-point conversion.

However, the Lions quickly responded, scoring a pivotal touchdown four minutes later with Jameson Williams catching a seven-yard pass. Minnesota’s attempt to reclaim the lead faltered, as their next possession resulted in a mere five yards gained before punting the ball away.

Despite their strong start to the season, the Vikings had been grappling with offensive inconsistencies, entering the game with one of the league’s lowest scoring averages. Coach Kevin O’Connell acknowledged the need for his players to execute their roles consistently to find success.

The Vikings’ defense, which had relied heavily on blitzing this season, faced challenges against Lions quarterback Jared Goff. While Goff was intercepted during a blitz, he also completed a touchdown pass and accumulated significant yardage, highlighting the effectiveness of Detroit’s offensive line in countering Minnesota’s aggressive defensive strategy.

As the game progressed, concerns arose for Lions linebacker Jack Campbell, who was injured during a tackle and remained motionless on the field for several minutes before being carted off. Coach Dan Campbell expressed his concern for Campbell, stating that the team was waiting for further updates on his condition.
