In a significant breakthrough in a cold case that has haunted Florida for over a decade, Dale Smith Jr. was arrested on October 14, charged with the second-degree murder of his ex-fiancée, Michelle Parker. This development follows a fresh examination of text messages and cell phone records that paint a troubling picture of the hours leading up to Parker’s disappearance in 2011, shortly after the pair appeared on an episode of “The People’s Court.”
Smith, now 55 and residing in Orlando, had previously claimed to have no knowledge of Parker’s whereabouts after she dropped off their children on November 17, 2011. However, new evidence suggests otherwise. The documents reveal that Parker, who was 33 at the time, was last seen after she and Smith participated in the court show to resolve a dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring.
At approximately 2 p.m. on that fateful day, the couple filmed the episode, where a judge ruled that both were responsible for the ring’s loss. Shortly after, Parker was supposed to pick up her oldest son but never made it. Surveillance footage later showed Parker’s vehicle at Smith’s home for over an hour, contradicting Smith’s assertion that she left shortly after dropping off their children.
The timeline of the afternoon raises further questions. By 4:32 p.m., both Smith’s and Parker’s phones were tracked moving away from the planned route to the Waterford Lakes Town Center, where Parker was expected to be. Text messages sent by Parker indicated she was at “Waterford,” but her phone never took the route that would lead her there.
Smith’s history of domestic violence also came to light during the investigation, with previous partners alleging similar threats and violent behavior. While his attorney has refrained from commenting due to a gag order, the case against him appears to be building as detectives continue to piece together the last known movements of Parker.
As the investigation unfolds, the tragic story of Michelle Parker serves as a stark reminder of unresolved cases and the ongoing quest for justice for victims of domestic violence.
