In a controversial move, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed kicker Justin Tucker, stirring debate given his past suspension stemming from sexual misconduct allegations. Head coach Andy Reid defended the decision, stating, “He’s done his suspension. Took care of his business there,” but refrained from elaborating on the implications of the signing for female fans.

Reid emphasized that the team conducted thorough research before finalizing the contract, which places Tucker on the practice squad as the Chiefs seek competition for their current kicker, Harrison Butker, who has struggled this season. Tucker, who last played in the NFL in 2024, faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions, which led to his suspension for ten weeks in the 2025 season.

Despite the troubling allegations, Reid insisted on the importance of evaluating Tucker’s current standing, noting, “There’s been time involved with it,” while remaining tight-lipped about the specifics of the team’s internal investigation. Reid’s comments come in the midst of rising scrutiny regarding player conduct and the league’s responsiveness to allegations of misconduct.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also weighed in, expressing trust in the team’s management to make sound decisions. “I try not to get too high or too low on anything,” Mahomes remarked, highlighting the focus on moving forward and improving the team’s performance amid the ongoing discussions sparked by Tucker’s signing.

Tucker, who has a notable record as a kicker, faces a significant challenge ahead as he attempts to re-establish his career following the serious allegations. His last season with the Ravens was marked by a troubling performance, converting only 73.3% of his field goals, raising questions about his readiness to return to the field.
