A lawsuit has been filed against Caleb Suh, a former West Point cadet, who previously pleaded guilty to drugging his pregnant girlfriend and forcing her to undergo an abortion. The civil suit was initiated by Jane Doe, the victim, claiming assault and battery after the disturbing events of 2022.
In June, Suh admitted to committing assault that resulted in substantial bodily injury to his girlfriend, a charge categorized as a federal crime when it occurs in a maritime or territorial jurisdiction. As he awaits sentencing in January at U.S. District Court in Manhattan, he is currently enrolled in a graduate program at Columbia University.
According to court documents, Jane Doe was a freshman at West Point when she and Suh began their relationship. The lawsuit claims that upon discovering her pregnancy, she expressed her decision to keep the baby, which Suh vehemently opposed. He allegedly threatened self-harm if she did not comply with his demands to terminate the pregnancy.
The lawsuit alleges that Suh took drastic measures by impersonating Jane Doe to acquire abortion pills and forced her to consume a drink laced with Xanax, which rendered her unconscious. During this time, he reportedly administered the abortion pills without her consent. Upon regaining consciousness, Jane Doe was in severe pain and bleeding, leading to her hospitalization, where she learned she had suffered a miscarriage.
Jane Doe’s complaint highlights the physical and emotional toll the incident has taken on her, seeking both monetary compensation and formal acknowledgment of the assault. The lawsuit claims she has suffered injuries, psychological distress, humiliation, and lost career opportunities due to Suh’s actions.
