In a heartfelt appeal, Savannah Guthrie, co-host of the “TODAY” show, has reached out for public assistance in the ongoing search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona, nearly nine months ago. The emotional plea comes as the investigation continues to yield little progress, with authorities confirming a ransom demand was involved in the case.
On social media, Guthrie shared a poignant drawing created by her young daughter, depicting a blue umbrella surrounded by raindrops. The caption, “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy,” encapsulates the family’s desperation and longing for Nancy’s safe return.
Guthrie expressed that the absence of her mother has profoundly affected her family, stating, “We ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward.” She urged anyone with information to come forward and help them find closure, emphasizing the need to “celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves.”
Since Nancy was reported missing on February 1, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with the FBI, has been tirelessly investigating the case, although they have yet to identify any suspects. Recently, a hair sample found at Nancy’s home did not lead to any breakthroughs following forensic testing.
A special task force dedicated to the case is actively pursuing leads and has even traveled to Florida for consultations with forensic scientists, seeking new avenues to advance the investigation. As the search continues, Guthrie reiterated the availability of a reward for information, underscoring her family’s urgent need for answers.
“We are begging you,” she wrote, imploring the public to assist in the search for her mother. “Please help us.” The emotional toll of this tragedy continues to weigh heavily on the Guthrie family as they navigate this challenging time.
